Liz DeLay
Liz DeLay is an experienced trial attorney, focusing primarily on criminal defense. She represents individuals being investigated or charged with various criminal matters from misdemeanors and traffic offenses to complex felonies. Liz recognizes that she represents her clients during what is one of the most frightening and uncertain periods of their lives. Straightforward and realistic, she seeks to provide honest, informed, and compassionate counsel. Liz is cognizant that each client and case are different and is always guided by the simple principle that brought her into the legal field in the first place: to help those charged with a crime receive the best possible outcome under the law.
Prior to joining Recht Kornfeld, P.C., Liz practiced for five years as a public defender in the Arapahoe County trial office. Liz has represented thousands of clients and has extensive trial experience, ranging from DUIs and low-level misdemeanors to cases alleging domestic violence, sexual assault, and first degree murder. In addition to her skills at persuading a jury, Liz is also a skilled negotiator who works productively with district attorneys to achieve her clients’ goals. She also has extensive experience in appellate and post-conviction work. While with the Office of the Public Defender, Liz was nominated for attorney of the year.
Liz completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California, where she also played collegiate basketball. She received her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she served as co-president of the ACLU student group.
